This is one of my sociology professors, Dr.Fridman. What’s happening in this photo? he invited whoever from his two classes and go out with him to the campus bar and share a few stories, ideas & drinks.
He is probably one of my favourite professors I’ve had at the University of Victoria. Hailing from Argentina, he left to live in NYC and is now here to do work. He’ll be back to Argentina over the summer, for a “conference” (as he puts it), but cannot wait to be back visiting New York.
I’ve learned so much from him and his knowledge of current internet happenings and television. He admitted today that he watches a lot of television; he doesn’t believe it ruins your brain in any way. I can’t blame him, I mean, he is the one with the PHD here.
None the less, it was amazing to see a professor out of his usual role and see him in a different light. The one who loves watching “toddlers & tiaras” for the ethnographic & feminist theories, and enjoys “mad men” and “sex and the city”. Yes, that “sex and the city” - he told me he had to check it out after staying in NYC for seven years, and being a part time DJ during his Masters & PHD at Columbia university.
I hope everyone has a chance to meet someone who they admire, for their intellect and charm.
